American Idol Judge Faces Lawsuit: Paula Abdul Sued

American idol judge Paula Abdul has taken some slings and arrows of late. The wacky idol judge has fought back against complaints that she appeared a bit loopy in a Seattle television interview and now it appears that she will have to fight a lawsuit. According to AOL Entertainment website TMZ.Com a lawsuit has been filed against Abdul by a production company claiming Paula tried to screw them out of a show based on Paula's life.

It's a bit complicated but TMZ notes that according to the lawsuit that has been filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Pilgrim Films and Television (PFTV) met with Abdul and David Russo (her producing partner) in 2004 and discussed a talk show featuring Abdul.

The 'show' struggled to get started but would be based on Paula's life. The lawsuit alleges that the project fell apart after Abdul demanded final editorial control over the final product, according to the report.

Now the company, PFTV, is claiming that Abdul allegedly came clean and told the company that "she had secretly taken PFTV's 'Hey Paula' project ... to Bravo." The suit claims she never mentioned that Russo was allegedly in on it. On January 12, Bravo announced "Hey Paula" will debut sometime this year on the cable network.

Hence, the aforementioned lawsuit. Cue the reps™: David Russo's lawyer, Bill Abrams, told TMZ, "The allegations are baseless."

Paula even spoke up herself and told TMZ, "While I'm not going to respond to this baseless lawsuit, I will say that "Hey Paula" is based upon my life and my ideas. Last I heard, I still own my own life."

American Idol Chris Daughtry announces plans for a free concert

Chris Daughtry, a finalist on the hit television series American Idol, has announced plans to perform a free concert in Greensboro, North Carolina on March 23rd.


The event is being organized by officials at the Greensboro Coliseum as part of a build up to the NCAA women's basketball tournament that will be held there on March 24th and 26th. There are also hopes that the event will help the city’s bid to host the 2012 women’s Final Four tournament. Daughtry is expected to draw a crowd of 6,000 to 7,000 fans.

For five days last week, Fox had bragging rights for the most watched show of the 2006-07 television season: the "American Idol" premiere on Tuesday that drew more than 37 million viewers.

The almighty NFL ended that short run.

The highly anticipated prime-time matchup of the Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots in the AFC championship game was watched by 46.7 million viewers on CBS Sunday night.

Beside being television's biggest audience of the season, the game also was the most watched non-Super Bowl program since the series finale of NBC's "Friends" in May 2004.

In addition, the game, which saw Colts quarterback Peyton Manning finally break the postseason curse of the Patriots with a 38-34 victory, was the highest-rated AFC championship game since 1986, when the Patriots beat the Miami Dolphins.

Thanks to the game, CBS easily won the weekly Nielsen ratings battle despite the mighty one-two punch of "American Idol" last week.

"Idol's" sixth-season premiere audience of 37.4 million gave Fox its biggest Tuesday night in history. Nearly 37 million viewers returned Wednesday night.

NBC was a distant third last week, with its biggest draw being Monday's Golden Globe Awards.

Its audience of 20 million was the network's largest on a Monday in seven years, not counting the Olympics.

In its first airing since winning two Golden Globes, ABC's "Ugly Betty" on Thursday had its best number since October, 14.1 million viewers.

Last week's Stephen Colbert-Bill O'Reilly swapping stunt proved beneficial for both gentlemen.

On Thursday, Colbert, who spoofs O'Reilly nightly as host of Comedy Central's "Colbert Report," agreed to be a guest on "The O'Reilly Factor" on Fox News Channel.

Later in the evening, O'Reilly appeared on Colbert's show.

"The O'Reilly Factor" drew nearly 3 million viewers, 1 million more than it averages.

"The Colbert Report" averaged 1.7 million viewers, its best audience ever and about 500,000 more than its average.

The week's top 10 shows, in order, were: CBS's AFC championship game; Fox's Tuesday and Wednesday "American Idol"; ABC's "Grey's Anatomy"; CBS's "CSI"; NBC's Golden Globe Awards; ABC's "Desperate Housewives"; CBS's "NCIS"; Fox's "24"; and CBS's "Shark."

So those that never watch American idol are a bit upset that judge Simon Cowell slaps around contestants verbally that can't sing. Others that never tune in and really don't get the show are ripping on Paula Abdul and calling her a drunk. Even Jewel, the talented songstress that sat in for the nightmare auditions in Minneapolis was ripped on by the shock jock at 'the View.' Somehow Randy Jackson slipped through. Time to ramp it up dawg.


American Idol Week Two: Paula Abdul, Simon, What Controversy?

Oh the humanity! The show somehow survived to the tune of 80 million viewers last week. Simon has always been harsh, that's the show. Paula has always acted weird, that's the show - where is the controversy?

It started with the two men that were mainly pointed out as being mistreated, Jonathan Jayne and Kenneth Briggs. They were so hurt, they immediately hired agents and were all over television yesterday.
